History

Savannah Children's Museum's Exploration Station is a one-acre, two- level exhibit area featuring over a dozen interactive & educational exhibits appropriate for ages 3-10 years that opened in June 2012 with major support by Newman's Own Foundation. It was wholly designed & built by CHS's Preservation Team and constructed within the Central of Georgia's (C of G) former Carpentry Shop and is the first phase of a larger project that will expand into the C of G's adjacent former Coach Shop and Paint Shop.

Each exhibit has been carefully designed to incorporate educational standards as well as developmentally appropriate, stimulating and challenging experiences, encouraging children to learn through play. Additionally, SCM staff are engaged in daily interactive programs for families visiting the museum through regular hours and school field trips and outreach into the community.
