Battlefield Memorial March
Coastal Heritage Society invites you to attend our annual Battlefield Memorial March on Thursday, October 9, to honor those who fought in the 1779 Battle of Savannah, one of the Revolutionary War’s most pivotal conflicts.
The free, public event begins at 8:30 a.m. in the parking lot of Savannah History Museum. The march will begin promptly at 9 a.m., retracing soldiers’ footsteps down West Boundary Street and along Louisville Road.
Following the march, a wreath-laying and remembrance ceremony will take place at Battlefield Memorial Park to honor the fallen.
The American Revolution Experience
We are thrilled to partner with Coastal Discovery Museum on their Revolutionary War Lecture Series featuring scholars, historians, and cultural commentators who are exploring the war’s pivotal events and legacy.
Members of our Interpretation Team will be taking part, including Catherine Duffy, Justin Childers, and Alex Egart. For more information and to register, visit here.
Coming in 2026
Our nonprofit is gearing up for an exciting new exhibition in Savannah History Museum called Loyalists & Liberty: Savannah in the American Revolution.
The exhibition will feature the 19 cannons and other small artifacts recovered from the Savannah River just off the shores of Old Fort Jackson in 2021.
This landmark exhibit will be approximately 3,000 square feet and present narratives more reflective of diverse participation, highlight Georgia’s role in the Revolution, and expand on naval stories.
This project has been a true community effort with an outpouring of support from corporations, heritage organizations, and individuals, but we need your help to preserve these relics and make them accessible to our community.
Please visit our cannon sponsorships page or email development@chsgeorgia.org for information on sponsorship opportunities and benefits.
